prospective and illusion
for this small terrace city terrace, the client
requested a romantic garden with lots of atmosphere,
protected from the view of the neighbouring houses.
the solution was to choose elements with scaled up
proportions, giving a theatrical effect. the existing
wall was covered with a "boiserie" of cement; the pavement
was covered with black and white river pebbles in a
renaissance design; large terracotta containers were used
to screen the view and give more privacy. the plants have
been chosen keeping in mind the shady parks of lake-side
villas, obtaining the desired effect - from the living room
window, even though in the city centre, the terrace presents
a perfect illusion of being in an antique garden.
