tradition

the intervention concerned the upgrading of
an existing park, and the organization of newly
aquired adjacent land. the italian style flower
beds have been restored in front of the orangerie,
the winter home of a collection of delicate plants,
and a vast stone stairway in the same style of the
villa has been built, to connect the park to the
new grounds which are on a higher level. in this
area, which has been treated as a separate garden
divided into different "rooms", the project was based
on a large english style lawn with a swimming pool, a
collection of antique rose plants arranged in beds
organized like a precious kitchen garden, and a
"secret garden", a place of rest and meditation, which
opens in the centre of a thicket of flowers and
greenery. the nineteenth century painted chicken house
has been restored and used as a pool house.
