urban romantic
the garden is part of an early 20th.century villa
in the historic city centre, now the showroom of a well
known italian fashion house. the terrain which had been
neglected for some time, has been reclaimed, salvaging
only a few of the existing plants. there is an air of
the classic italian garden, aided by the numerous box
plants which have been expertly pruned, alternating with
white hydrangea bushes. the old brick walls have been
treated as antique ruins, half hidden by discreet plants,
a tribute to the romantic german inclination. most
important for the final effect was the paving, for which
a very fine rose coloured gravel has been chosen. this
illuminates the area, picking up the colour of the facade
and emphasising the dark green of the trees.
