contemporary thoughts
the terrace is situated on the rooftop of the
headquarters of the the italian fashion house piazza
sempione. paola navone, the architect in charge of the
renovation of the entire building, has built here a
structure in mirrored glass, which is used as a meeting
room. surrounding this an unusual garden has been
created, using different varieties of rarely used,
supple graminaceous plants. in the rough cement flower
boxes another selection of uncommon varieties has been
planted, including artichoke, penisetum and brambles.
the pavement in natural wood is equipped with a
sophisticated irrigation system, which allows the planting
of small silver-leafed plants between each section of
sliced trunk. the air-conditioning machines have been
hidden under interwoven willow branches, giving a strong
decorative effect.
